The Democreats need a positive project to move from crtique of the ruling party to something original. I suggest: Reduce the number of prisoners in the USA who is the biggest GULAG on the planet. At least, make the absolute number of detainees less that in China! Then, we may call themselves if not a land of freedom but at least not a land of prisons.
I agree. They can start with non-violent drug offenders. I hope you wrote and sent it to the DNC, they appear first in the forms group above.

Fusioner, just want to alert you that the no-pardon petition linked above (http://www.democrats.org/nopardon) is outdated now as it refers to Bush possibly issuing pardons at Thanksgiving. Thanks for all your work.

Good site. My unrest is that the Corporations are "Privatizing America"....on the backs of the Poor and Elderly and Disabled. They are doing it in the name of Streamlining Government. Food Stamps and Medicaid are going to be unaccessible by those that need it most. Government employees are gagged from speaking out. At least Rep. Waxman is questioning the Medicare part D pharmacy coverage that is supposed to help the elderly buy Drugs...see commondreams release 11/30/05...it is nothing more than a pretty package that screws the Elderly (poor Elderly) even more. Pharmacy and Insurance Companies are running our Government, and our elected officals in Washington.

Hi - Clicked over from FDL. Great line-up of contacts. Very helpful. Thank you. I have a new and important petition you may be interested in adding. It's organized by CA SoS CANDIDATE (and good gal - the state senator who authored their paper trail bill) Debra Bowen and is an email campaign to pressure California's SoS to TEST uncertified electronic voting machines. The currently installed Republican SoS appointee is pretending to be preparing for independent tests of the new equipment before he installs it statewide, but his motives are highly suspect. At the moment, he has announced a test, with completely rigged parameters, and no date or time specified, and he may be contemplating pulling a "NC" to get around testing altogether. If you want to see some honest tests done on this allegedly-worthy of taxpayer funding software and hardware, please join the effort: ga3.org/campaign/diebold_testTHANK YOU.

For those who want to send mailings to multiple offenders, AND get past spam filters, put your email addy in the "To:" line, and the list in the "BCC" line. You can hit everyone--bammo! I used to do newsgroup mailings, and that was ia real time-saver, and respected the privacy of the people on the list.
Yeah, they may wonder who else you sent it to...but let them wonder if it's 5000 other media outlets...or your congressman...or your dog.
Heck, they may give you the benefit of the doubt and figured you were a newbie and got confused about how to fill out the sections!

Nope... I am not going to stop getting people involved. I am glad you saw my post and were motivated enough to speak out.
I am on good terms with Arianna and Jane Hamsher, they both have my email. If they had a problem with me I am sure they would let me know. You come here anon... That carries no weight with me. You will see my posts at Huffington going forward I am sure.
Stopping the war, and other transgressions upon our democracy outweigh your anon opinion. The score is about 6300 to 1.

We have an Islamic Terrorist attempting to make al-Queda contacts thru this board. I have repeatedly deleted posts in Arabic by a "guest" with the username:

Excellent work,man...Count me in. IMPEACH INDICT CONVICT It's long past time to bring this national disgrace to an end. That vile little shmuck just admited violating his Oath of Office, the only source of his authority, because one of his lawyers said he could in a memo. The lens just cracked on my disgust-o-meter...
