Tortured to Death: Bush Lies Again The other day found out that President Bush has been involved in setting up secret camps and detention facilities. The source information for this story came from the Washington Post: www.washingtonpost.com/ wp...5110101644.html CIA Holds Terror Suspects in Secret Prisons Now we learn that of course prisoners in control of US personnel are being tortured to death: news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20051113/pl_afp/usattacksintelligenceThe Washington Post article notes that this is a subject for debate, this position is insane. This is a tactic used by fascist governments, not democracies. The existence of secret camps and prisons, torture, crimes against civilians, were all employed by the Nazis in WWII and this practice has been regarded as horrific by every modern country since. Without oversight, conditions in secret facilities instantly degrade to the point where torture and death by torture (murder) becomes routine. It is clear that civil rights and international treaties are violated by the very existence of secret detention facilities. These were all things the Nazis did prior to WWII... Are we starting WWIII? We are the international bad guys now, the world is arming up to defend themselves against our aggression, they rightfully see us as a threat. The United States of America fought WWI, WWII, in Korea, and in the Gulf War without having to resort to such tactics. In fact, we historically use civil rights abuses, treaty violations, torture, and the existence of secret prisons to demonize our enemies and to provide the moral justification for fighting tooth and nail against governments that employ such tactics. What will happen as a result of our actions? No good will come of this, neither long nor short term. This is very bad for America, and lethal for American foreign policy and national security. Other recent events have come to light: misrepresentation, "cherry picking" and lying about intelligence as the justification for the war in Iraq; the routine prison abuse in Iraq; the torture camp at "Gitmo"; and now these secret camps and deaths by torture at the hands of the CIA... These all point to a consistent pattern of Constitutional, Geneva Convention, UN Torture treaties, and Civil Rights violations by the Bush administration. These are serious crimes, and our government is being run by criminals perpetrating them. These criminals have no regard for international law and no regard for human life. Our country, and our freedoms are in grave danger. My question to you is... Does your institution support atrocities like this? Do the writers and editors of the publication you produce support the administration which has made such abuses routine? This is way above politics, these are serious crimes against humanity. This behavior will adversely effect our long term national security and foreign relations. This behavior is contrary to the laws of our land, and the laws of every other civilized country. The United States of America, my country, is committing crimes against humanity. What is your position on the people who commit such crimes?

Detainees Deserve Court Trials www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/13/AR2005111301061.html The writ of Habeas Corpus dates back to the Magna Carta. It is a bastion of freedom. It states that the executive cannot imprison a person without cause. I am ashamed that today, after only one hour of debate, our United States Senate voted to remove this right to freedom. After World War II, the allies tried Nazi war criminals in open court. There was no doubt to either defendants, or the world, that those trials were conducted as openly and as fairly as possible. Defendants were permitted to speak in open court and present evidence in their defense. There was no doubt to anyone as to the justice of the proceedings. As of today, we have become like the Nazis... Our government has been successful in selling lies and terrorism propaganda to the point where we have lost our basic principals and our moral values. Only a few patriots are standing up to say "Stop!!! This is Wrong!!! These actions hurt America!!!" This is a milestone. Combined with secret prisons and torture, the loss of Habeas Corpus has turned America onto a dark and evil path. We are no longer an open, free democracy. We are no longer the shining light of freedom to the world.

Starting World War Three: The United States of America is losing the war on terror. This is the very definition of being misled. The war on terror is largely a propaganda war. The terror threat has been dramatically propagandized by Bush and his followers. In the process of swallowing this propaganda, we have lost significant rights to privacy and civil rights here at home. We have lost the hearts and support of our former allies overseas, and we have lost the battle to win over the hearts and minds of our supposed enemies. As the propaganda and lies are exposed, Bush has lost the hearts and minds of Americans at home. The Bush administration response is to increase verbal attacks on Americans, and an increase in the propaganda push by his followers. At the time of the the attack on September 11th the number of terrorists worldwide numbered a few thousand individuals. The Bush administration reacted to the threats of this relatively small and weak group by producing an on-going and multi-billion dollar "war on terror", most of this war was nothing but a farce. But due to overreaction by citizens of this country, combined with a full force propaganda effort by the Bush administration and their controlled media... We are now mired in Iraq, which was a secular, non-terror supporting country under Saddam. As a result of our invasion, we have opened up the worlds largest terrorist training camp under Bush, where formerly peaceable civilians are picking up arms and learning the tools of the terror trade in battlefield conditions. This is the worst possible outcome for people who truly want to suppress terrorism. The number of terrorists and the number of terrorism attacks are expanding and growing under Bush's faulty leadership. Under the Bush administration the war on terror will never end. This war cannot be won following Bush's policies. Since the people who are making terror war policy will not change, we must install new people in order to implement policy changes that will deescalate the violence, restore our lost civil rights, and bring peace to the world. It is clear we are on the wrong path. Stubborn adherence to beliefs spawned by fear and propaganda, unwavering support for the Bush administration, and increased oppression at home and overseas will only see the problem with terrorism and rogue nations continue to grow and escalate. World War Three is the logical conclusion of the Bush administration war policy. Thank you,

Bush: Truth is Irresponsible news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051115/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_asia Bush Escalates Bitter Iraq War Debate Bush is angry because he has been caught up in lies that have seriously damaged his credibility resulting in a broken presidency. It is all his fault, but he will always blame others for his mistakes. He continues to escalate his propaganda, louder and more forcefully... Attacking his critics for pushing the truth... Truth he cannot bring himself to admit. This is a dangerous president. Arthur Schlesinger Jr. writes: www.huffingtonpost.com/arthur-schlesinger-jr/patriotism-and-dissent_b_10642.html Theodore Roosevelt -- no greater superpatriot -- said in 1918 during the First World War: "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." During the Second World War, within a couple of weeks after Pearl Harbor, Senator Robert A. Taft, "Mr. Republican," took the same line: 'I believe that there can be no doubt that criticism in time of war is essential to the maintenance of any kind of democratic government..... Too many people desire to suppress criticism simply because they think it will give some comfort to the enemy.... If that comfort makes the enemy feel better for a few moments, they are welcome to it as far as I am concerned because the maintenance of the right of criticism in the long run will do the country more good than it will do the enemy, and it will prevent mistakes which might otherwise occur."

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/15/AR2005111501842.html WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!!! In this morning's Washington Post we discover that oil industry executives had met secretly with Republican Vice President Richard Cheney's Energy Task Force in 2001. These same companies appeared in front of Congress recently to answer questions to a Republican controlled Senate committee concerning what appears to be artificially inflated petroleum prices. Republican Chairman Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) of the Senate investigating committee refused to put these executives under oath despite repeated requests by Democrats on the committee. Oil executives from the nations largest oil companies then denied during questioning that they had any confidential contacts with the Republican administration. This is a strong indication of political corruption, racketeering, and illegal price gouging that resulted in the fleecing of billions of dollars in cash from the American people. This money can be recovered through an honest and independent criminal investigation of oil company accounting and pricing practices. Excessive profits could be returned to the American people. Last week the Republican Congress attempted to pass a new budget bill that severely cuts services for the poorest Americans. This bill was stopped by minority Democrats. Under this budget proposal the Republicans attempted to make large cuts in education spending and student loans. Wouldn't it be nice if we could find someone honest in our government that could help Americans recover our stolen money from big oil, where it could then be used to help balance our budget, support our needy, and further our education goals? We are talking about many billions of dollars of _OUR_ money. Every driver in America has already paid a very high price for Republican criminal activity. When can we start calling criminals, "criminals"? Republicans are not acting as honest politicians who are helping America. Thank You,

Bush Freed Iraq?
BAGHDAD, Iraq (MSNBC) - Conditions — including the use of torture — at a secret Baghdad detention facility were so “horrific” that some of the scores of men held there “looked like Holocaust survivors” when they were found, NBC News has learned.
Reporting on the developing story from Baghdad, NBC News correspondent Mike Boettcher on Wednesday said sources close to the investigation of the facility told him that photos of the detainees show “people covered in welts from torture. They show torture devices. They show men so emaciated they look like Holocaust survivors.”
Iraq’s deputy minister of the interior, in whose headquarters building the secret prison was found by U.S. forces Sunday, told Boettcher that “he had never seen anything like this in his life.” ...
Now Bush is verbally attacking Americans, are we next???

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10074995/ NBC: Massive bid-rigging scam alleged in Iraq So let me get this straight... We have war crimes, war profiteering, oil profiteering, over 2000 dead Americans... Iraq is _not_ a free country with 83,000 people arrested as "terror suspects" in a country that had no terrorism prior to our invasion. Torture, secret flights, secret meetings... Everything is a secret... WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS??? news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051117/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cheney_iraq WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday added his voice to the chorus of Republican criticism of Democrats who contend the Bush administration of manipulating intelligence on Iraq. That accusation, he said, "one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city." "Some of the most irresponsible comments have, of course, come from politicians who actually voted in favor of authorizing force against Saddam Hussein," Cheney told the Frontiers of Freedom Institute, a conservative policy group. **** Then... There is Bush, the President... Isn't the President ultimately responsible for what goes on the White House? Is not Bush the Commander and Chief... The desk where the "buck stops" I really want to know... Because this is very, very, very wrong.

One bit of advice I recommend for people who want to get their letters published, beyond using good grammar and other technical matters, is to limit the word count to about 250. Those are more likely to get in the paper than the longer ones; newspapers want to give a variety of people a voice, and that gives them the space to do it.
You don't have to count each word yourself. Just type up your original letter in a word processor, like Word, which will give you a word count as you type, or has a command that you can run to check the word count. If you have your spell check on, it will also alert you to most mis-spellings, as well. Then you can cut and paste from Word to your email program.

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10084428/ ‘Not going as advertised’ Murtha voted to give the president authority to use force against Saddam Hussein in 2002 but in recent months has grown increasingly troubled with the direction of the war and with the Bush administration’s handling of it. “The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion,” Murtha said. **** This is the voice of sanity. This is a man who has been to war. This is a man who is very seriously concerned about the Bush war program. I am beginning to have serious doubts about the sanity of the President. I think Cheney went off the deep end some time ago. These two men have their hands on the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons... And I am very concerned. You can duck, dodge, spin and twirl... But the fact of the matter is that the Bush adminstration is neither honest, nor ethical. They are doing serious injury to my country.

Steal from the Poor, Give to the Rich www.huffingtonpost.com/bryan-lentz/a-moral-disaster-of-monu_b_10866.html Early this morning, so-called Republican moderates showed their true colors by falling in line with Tom Delay and approving $7.8 billion in loan cuts to college students, $4.9 billion in cuts to child support enforcement, $11.4 billion in Medicaid cuts, and a $796 million reduction in food stamp funding. Later today we can expect them to add insult to injury by approving $57 billion in new tax cuts, most of which benefit households with annual incomes of over $1 million. **** This is bad. Congress lets big oil go, oil execs were not even placed under oath... Then they are pulling billions of dollars from the people in OUR country who can least afford to lose support of these programs. This hurts higher education, will reduce the health of the lower class, and will permit some to go hungry. These actions are the result of a corrupt political machine. It must be broken. Our system of ethics, morals, and good judgment seems to have completely gone out the window... To be replaced with war crimes, torture and patriot laws. Thank you,

What is the mission? www.defenselink.mil/transcripts/2005/tr20051115-secdef4301.html Rumsfeld - Nov. 15th 2005 "While the American people understandably want to know when our forces can leave Iraq, I believe they do not want them to leave until our mission is accomplished and the Iraqis are able to sustain their fledgling democracy." Yet I seem to recall... A certain speech on an aircraft carrier made by the President... When was that ? We were clearly told that the mission was accomplished... You should be able to locate that date... But it was some time ago. What exactly is Mr. Bush's mission? I don't know, but it is not a good one. Nothing good will come of it. I am very, very concerned.

Rewriting History www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10111629/site/newsweek/The senate vote on torture fell to defeat by a vote of 90-9. The nine Senators who voted for the torture proposal were: Wayne Allard Kit Bond Tom Coburn Thad Cochran John Cornyn James Inhofe Pat Roberts Jeff Sessions Ted Stevens All Republicans. Today I am reading the article in Newsweek referenced above and I run across this quote: How does the Abu Ghraib abuse scandal, as well as recent allegations that top military leadership sanctioned the use of torture in interrogations, affect the United States’ credibility on human rights issues in Arab countries? It’s hurt U.S. credibility beyond measure. It has lost us the moral high ground, and I am very troubled by it. The only way to restore our credibility is for there to be accountability of those who had something to do with it—not just lower-level military. I was at an event recently where somebody said, “Isn’t it great that the Senate voted 99-0 against torture?” and I said, “Isn’t it amazing that we actually have to have a vote like that?” Yeah Amazing... But that does not change the truth.

Did Bush Lie About War? Let me ask another, much harder question: Find me an example where Bush, his administration, or his shills in the media told the truth about the war, or about anything for that matter? I smell war crimes all over this, and I want to see open trials for the perpetraitors. The media needs to get off their asses, and quit letting a corrupt Republican propaganda machine steer the country. It has to stop or the media becomes just as guilty for conspiring against the United States of America as the Republican party is. Re: Bush " Thus 18 U.S.C., Sec. 1001 was evidently violated." www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ny22_hinchey/morenews/091505fitzgeraldletter.html Re: Pat Roberts - Looks like he is working on a felony obstruction of justice charge... Or he would be if I was a prosecutor. He's certainly guilty of obstruction, and we have reason to believe a crime was commited. **** How many Americans have to die to feed a bloodthirsty and corrupt political machine?

Nazgûl in the Senate Beyond ethics, beyond Geneva Convention, beyond the UN treaty on torture, beyond the most basic comprehension of human civil rights, beyond the standards of every other modern and civilized country in the world... Americans are represented by Nazgûl in the Senate. The Nine: Wayne Allard (R - CO) Kit Bond (R - MO) Tom Coburn (R - OK) Thad Cochran (R - MS) John Cornyn (R - TX) James Inhofe (R - OK) Pat Roberts (R - KS) Jeff Sessions (R - AL) Ted Stevens (R - AK) These moral corruptions in human form all voted to terminate civil rights, suspend the principal of Habeas Corpus and voted in support of torture techniques employed by the wonderfully ethical White House led by Sauron and Saruman. Prior to their being seduced by the darkness, the Nine were respected members of the United States Senate. But that was in the past. In the present, they have become forces of evil, and a threat to mankind. The change from Senators into Nazgûl is recorded in the vote on Senator McCain's no-torture bill: www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00249 This vote is already being re-written... The vote occurred, but as recently reported in Newsweek: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10111629/site/newsweek/ “Isn’t it great that the Senate voted 99-0 against torture?” and I said, “Isn’t it amazing that we actually have to have a vote like that?” They want to deny the actual results, they want to deny they are corrupt and without morals, they want to deny they are Nazgûl. But that cannot be permitted. It must be generally recognized and known that they are enemies to humankind, and human freedom. It is absurd to even think that these things could be, or would be, supported as representatives of American values or the American people. Thank you,
